Triangular source location technique of acoustic emission for spherical pressure vessel is studied in this paper. The work includes:
the comparison of planar and spherical source location: the differences and the particular processing are discussed
the location judgment method: in order to find the source correctly, a new source model--heavy source and multi- source--is developed. Based on this model, a new location judgment method--double-grouped method is put forward. The location results of this method are compared with these of the acoustic emission equipment of Physical Acoustic Corporation (PAC) using pencil-lead-breakage method to simulate acoustic sources. The comparison shows that the new method is better than PAC's when several sources occur at almost the same time (multi-source)
computing the position of source: the mathematical model of spherical triangular source location is a pair of non-linear equations, and can't be solved using analytical method. A numerical method of Newton iterative is used for this problem. The calculating result shows that this method is very good.
