Our organization is accredited to ISO 9001 and authorised to manufacture products as per various codes such as ASME (S, U, U2, R stamps), API and IBR. Renowned inspection agencies like IBR, Lloyds, EIL, PDIL, BVQI and TCE carries out product inspection. NDE is carried out only by well trained personnel using competent equipments and quality is assured at various stages of manufacturing. ISO Quality system ties up the loose ends that are left free when different products conforming to various codes are manufactured int he same floor.

This paper details the systems adopted in NDE by BHEL to assure the quality of the pressure vessels at various stages of manufacture to prevent non-conformance, as a Quality Assurance Programme. Also details the certification system adopted to ensure repeatability and reliability of the test results. The impact of ISO quality system on the calibration of equipments and guidelines for the usage of right equipment on the product is detailed. The steps taken to improve the effectiveness of non- destructive examination of pressure vessel components by applying Quality Assurance system on NDT is also elaborated. REFERENCE
