3. geometry and location of area intended for in-situ metallography,
4. purpose of the in- situ metallography,
5. selection of polishing equipment and method,
6. selection of etching method,
7. technique of replication,
8. the details required from the replica,
9. types of microscopy to be used,
10. technique of viewing the replica and
11. interpretation of results.

The paper intends to give practical hints on the style and approach for carrying out in-situ metallography, so that better planning of the work is possible. Improved depth in the approach and technique will result in improved and representative results.
