ABSTRACT
Numerical models have been applied with great success to the analysis of eddy current test phenomena. They have been used for understanding the interaction of electromagnetic fields with defects in the near field as well as in the remote field regions and for the optimisation of the eddy current probe designs and test frequencies. This paper discusses the successful applications of an axi-symmetric finite element model, developed at the authors' laboratory, to solve some of the eddy current inspection problems of critical components in nuclear industry.
