ABSTRACT The paper presents a discussion of experimental data on the initiation and propagation of cracks in real engineering materials subjected to static loading obtained using a new method of mechanical testing based on the construction of complete stress-strain diagrams in combination with the acoustic emission data in the course of testing. The method based on analysis of acoustic emission parameters obtained in material specimens under sounding from special generator, have been used to evaluate the material damage after controllable deformation grade.
