Monitoring of Eucalyptus Wood Drying Process via AE Measurement
Przemyslaw Maliszkiewicz, Sergio Lopes, Alfredo Dias
ABSTRACT The paper describes experimental work undertaken to understand the behaviour of Eucalyptus Globulus wood during it's drying The natural environment conditions - normal temperature and humidity were used for the drying process. Different cross-section shapes are considered for the test (round, half-circle and rectangular) and a# these specimens were cut out from the same tree log. Specimens's rotation and deformation, the wood moisture and acoustic emission activity wore measured during drying process. The tests were done in the lab, with external temperature and relative humidity maintained constant. Appearance of cracks as well as the rotation arid deformation during the drying process ware recorded. The acoustic emission was used for analyse the cracks occurrence and development
