ABSTRACT
Radiometric method was applied to test timber density along the stem. A prototype densitometer was used in which the source of radiation is americium Am241 with the radiation energy 59.5 keV and activity 10 mCi. The density distribution was tested along the length of three pine and three spruce stems. The obtained results show the satisfactory equivalence of the isotopic and stereoscopic methods of timber density measurements.
