Experimental results, both qualitative and quantitative, were used for a futher FEM (Finite Elements Method) modelling process. In this way the authors obtained some useful results for furniture designers. Using these experimental and numerical results, the authors obtained some substructures with a higher stiffness by diminishing of the wood material consumption.

The experimental validation of the FEM modelling results, allowed the authors to establish some new modellings for substructural elements, very useful both for wood-industry and furniture design.
