The Effect of Reinforcment on Normal Stress Distribution in Girdes made of Wood and Wood-base Materials Glued Together

ABSTRACT
The paper discusses the results of investigations into the normal stress distribution in girders made of wood and hardboard glued together, reinforced with inserts made of a polyester resin- fibreglass base composite, or with steel bars. The investigation showed that the strongest effect on the decrease in normal stresses in the girders tested was produced by steel reinforcement.
