Mr Tony SonneveldTony Soneveld was a personal friend and business colleague of Alex Ross Wilson from 1963 until his passing in May 1999. During this period, Alex fostered and encouraged his career in metallurgy, NDT and management. Tony pioneered the Queensland branch of NDTAA in 1972 before becoming a member of the NSW branch council of AINDT in 1973. He served as state president from 1977 1978 and was elected as Federal President from 1981 to 1983. As an Active member of the Standards Association of Australia - NDT, his input into various subcommittees which included MT/7/5 and MT/7/6, as well as the executive committee MT/7, has been invaluable. Tony has presented numerous papers and lectures to AINDT and various other institutes such as the University of NSW, AWI, AWRA and the NSW Institute of Technology to name just a few. However, by far his greatest accomplishment was with Aust-Amec Pty Ltd, formerly Metlab (1968 to 1989), where he progressed from Metallurgist to Director/ General manager and was recognised as the driving force that forged this company into one of the most stable and successful commercial NDT companies this country has ever seen. In view of his meritorious service to the NDT institute, the NSW branch council has nominated Tony for the Foundation Honorary Member of the AINDT.
