Preface

Dear friends and colleagues,

At their meeting in Madrid in October 2001, the EFNDT General Assembly awarded the organization of the 9th European NDT Conference (ECNDT) to DGZfP, who had applied with the German Capital Berlin as a venue in September, 25-29, 2006.

DGZfP is proud that this important task has been assigned to us by the European NDT community.

Following the 1st European NDT Conference in Mainz in 1978, it is to be held in Germany for a second time.

Berlin, after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989 has become a lively, exciting and fascinating city.

From the very beginning preparations were progressing very well. We found sponsors who are contributing so much financially. Thanks to those engaged companies it is possible to organize such a challenging event.

The Conference Venue is the ESTREL Convention Centre.

The technical programme contains 500 oral presentations, 174 poster and 35 poster with short presentation of all relevant fields of NDT. It will be presented in 116 sessions. We thank the programme committee especially its Chairmen Dr. Gerd Dobmann and Prof. Anton Erhard for their engagement.

The European NDT Conference is playing a key role in the information on the development and advancement of NDT within Europe and around the World.

A very important event associated with the conference is the exhibition. 100 companies, 25 NDT societies and NDT institutions present an excellent showcase for NDT.
