In service exploitation of spherical storage tanks involve reinforced safety for the pressure installation.

Safety means notably application of protection using flame retardant coating or implementation of fill slope, in this case external wall of equipment is not easily accessible for in service inspections.

Use of AE involve, in order to preserve its global character, direct access to equipment's wall for the instrumentation with AE sensors.

This paper shows application for a real case of wave guides during initial and first in service test of GPL storage sphere.
