The goal of this conference was to provide a forum for researchers and engineers working in the composite areas to:

1. Review major worldwide, state-of-the-art developments in composites science and technology
   
2. Identify and forecast new opportunities to utilize basic composites research in composite product design and development
   
3. Bridge the gap between composite product design and material science.

The complete programme of the conference is available on-line. The conference was opened with a keynote lecture from A. Beuckers (Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands) who spoke about Lightweight solutions for today, using the ancient concepts of the past. The following day, we also noted the second keynote lecture delivered by H. Hamada (Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan) on the Fabrication and mechanical properties of braided composites.

The conference itself contained 12 sessions, including topics such as composite applications, infrastructure, micromechanics, manufacturing and NDT, to cite only but a few. Seven papers were presented in the NDT session that we hope to make available on the Internet to the readers of NDTnet. These are listed here
