About this CD-ROMFor the first time on CD-ROM, the proceedings of a Non-Destructive Testing World Conference are available. The work is the result of the collaboration between Authors, AIPnD (15th WCNDT Organiser) and NDT.net (CD-ROM producer/design). The CD-ROM contains a comprehensive presentation of the state of the Art of NDT as we enter the 3rd Millennium covering all areas from methods to applications, accreditation and certification.The material of the CD-ROM has been submitted by world leading experts on NDT and by those less well known, from all over the world. It offers an International look at NDT in all its aspects and is therefore important not only for its relevance but also for the information and insights it contains. The unique format of the electronic proceedings has allowed us to publish the complete contents on the Internet at http://www.ndt.net/wcndt2000. By reducing the contents of the CD-ROM to less than 70 MB we have made it more accessible to Internet browsing. We wish to thank authors for all their co-operation. The CD-ROM contains a search tool which has an easy full-text search or descriptor search for a specific NDT technique or application as well as of authors and countries. We hope that our edited descriptors have recognized not only the state of the art in NDT but also the various common standards of NDT terms. Approximately 750 papers were scheduled in the conference technical programme, this CD-ROM contains 663 papers as not all authors submitted e-files of their work. Due to different formats of files received, a programming process had to bring the contents to a multiple platform format (HTML). No programming tool is available to do this work automatically and although we have made every effort to avoid any errors or discrepancies we acknowledge that due to human error minor mistakes may occur .
