Subject: Next Week's NDT IRC Channel Topic: "Ethics in NDT"
Sender: owner-nde@swrinde.nde.swri.edu
Precedence: bulk
On May 15 (7:30 to 8:30 am EST), the topic will be "Ethics in NDT".
Because NDT very often impacts the safety of the public, we all should
strive toward a high standard of ethics. Some of the issues I would like
to explore are:
1. How to create a work enviroment that encourages ethical actions.
2. Consequences of unethical behavior
3. How the various codes of ethics in NDT differ among countries and NDT
societies.
The NDT IRC channel is #NDT and is on any Efnet IRC server network. I
use the server "irc.ais.net" but any Efnet server will work. Efnet
servers addresses usually begin with "irc".
Last week's topic was "Probability of Detection" and four of us
participated in the discussion. Unfortunately for this session, I was
unable to save the text of the discussion. However, the first session
(May 1: "NDT Personnel Certification") was saved and will shortly become
available for download.

Subject: First Weekly NDT Conference on Inter Relay Chat (IRC)
Sender: owner-nde@swrinde.nde.swri.edu
Precedence: bulk
On Wednesday, May 1 from 7:30 to 8:30 am EST, the first of the Weekly NDT
Conferences on IRC (channel #NDT on Efnet servers) was held. The topic
was "Personnel Certification". The session was very lively and
informative. We will be posting a summary of this chat session and also
make the entire text of the dialogue available for download on several
web pages. Stay "tuned" for upcoming details.
For the next meeting on Wednesday, May 8 (same time), the topic will be
"Probability of Detection".
For clarification, the IRC NDT channel will be also operating each week
day, except Wednesdays are limited to the weekly topic (which varies
based on your input to me).
However, I will not be on IRC on May 6 so you all are on your own to meet
on the NDT IRC channel.

Subject: IRC #NDT channel back back on-line
Sender: owner-nde@swrinde.nde.swri.edu
Precedence: bulk
The vacation was great but I am now eager to again talk to you all on the
Inter Relay Chat (IRC) channel #NDT. Just to remind you, I am on each
week day (barring problems) from 7:30 am to 8:30 am EST and midnight to 1
am EST . The channel #NDT is on the Efnet system of servers (I am using
irc.ais.net).
It has been suggested that we should meet weekly rather than daily so
as to make it more of an "event" with a topic. As an experiment, lets
meet on Wednesdays at the above times and let's make the topic this week
to be "NDT Personnel Certification".
