CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
The Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing invites
you to gather with members and associates of the
international non-destructive testing community for the
10th Asia-Pacific Conference on Non-Destructive Testing.
The conference will be held from 17 21 September 2001
in Brisbane, Australia. The conference theme Technology
2001 and Beyond, reflects on the advances in NDT through
the twentieth century, consolidates the technology of
today and directs our path into the future. This theme
provides an ideal platform for the first meeting of NDT
practitioners and their associates in the twenty-first century.
The conference is expected to attract in excess of 300
delegates from all branches of the manufacturing,
mining, aerospace, power and petrochemical industries
as well as from the military, research establishments and
universities.
In addition to the comprehensive conference program,
the conference will feature an exhibition of the latest NDT
systems, and a full social program, including options for
delegates companions.
VENUE
The 10th Asia-Pacific Conference on Non-Destructive
Testing will be held at the Brisbane Convention and
Exhibition Centre, Queensland, Australia.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is a
purpose-built conference and special events venue,
which opened in 1995 on the previous site for World Expo
88. The centre features state of the art meeting facilities
and is located in the heart of the South Bank Parklands
cultural and leisure district.
Brisbane is the capital city of the state of Queensland,
with a population of 1.6 million. The city boasts an
excellent range of international standard hotels and
motels within walking distance of the Brisbane Convention
and Exhibition Centre. It has a wide range of attractions
for the visitor.
CALL FOR PAPERS
The conference organisers invite paper presentations and
poster displays on, but not restricted to, the following
conference sub-themes:
- fundamental and applied research
- equipment design and development
- inspection and testing application
- codes and standards
- training, education, qualification and certification
- process and procedure development
- international and regional co-operation programs
- the history of processes and procedures
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
All paper presentations will be allocated 30 minutes,
including question time. Poster presentations will be
allocated up to 15 minutes, including question time and
staged informally next to individual poster displays. These
presentations will contribute significantly to the conference
program and should be of the highest professional
standard. Accepted submissions will be selected on the 200
word abstract and must be original, unpublished works,
submitted in a prescribed format by 30 November 2000.
Paper preparation guidelines will be forwarded with notice
of acceptance. Papers not submitted by the dates outlined
in the guidelines may, at the committees discretion, be
excluded from the conference. Authors must release their
presentation from copyright for inclusion in the conference
proceedings. Accepted submissions must not be presented
to any other body before the conference. Selected papers
will be published in NDT Australia, the official journal of the
Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing.

PREPARATION OF ABSTRACTS
Abstracts should be complete and informative,
containing:
Abstract Title: In ALL CAPITALS, with Author/s names and
affiliations underneath.
Body of Abstract: The abstract should be on standard A4
(21cm x 29.7cm portrait) with four-sided 2.5cm margins.
The body of the abstract should not be more than 200
words, single-spaced and justified with paragraphs
separated with a blank line. Paragraphs should not be
indented. Character fonts should be 12 point Times
Roman. Do not use macros, headers or footers. Abstracts
may not be faxed.
Disk submission: Abstracts should be submitted on a
labelled computer disk (3.5 only) with the abstract saved
in PC format (Mac format cannot be accepted), in the
original word processing format, and also in text format
(.txt) or rich text format (.rtf). Disk labels must include the
name of submitting author, abstract title and name of
software (including version number).
E-mailed abstracts: Abstracts may be e-mailed to
apcndt@ozaccom.com.au in the required format. All
details required in the abstract submission form (see
below) must be listed as per the form, in the body of the
email, with the abstract included as an attachment.
AUDIOVISUAL FACILITIES
Oral presenters should note that PowerPoint and overhead
projection are the preferred audiovisual formats.
SPEAKER EXPENSES
All presenters are required to pay their own registration,
accommodation and travel expenses. The 10th Asia-Pacific
Conference on Non-Destructive Testing is unable to
subsidise registration fees, travel or accommodation costs.
SPONSORSHIP & TRADE OPPORTUNITIES
Organisations are invited to enhance their profile within
the non-destructive testing industry, through sponsorship
of the conference or by holding a trade exhibit. A range
of options and tailored packages are available. Please
contact the Secretariat for further details.
