MTQ'98 - Exhibiton on Nondestructive Testing Dortmund Nov 1998
A report by Rolf Diederichs |
|
MTQ '98 Dortmund - The Exhibition in Dortmund featured products and services for Material Testing and Quality. Exhibitor participation was 10% less than at the MTQ '96 and the 7.619 visitors reflected a decline of 8 %. Most of the exhibitors came from Germany, as usual, in fact, most attendees were Northern Westfalen locals. It is worth pointing out that out of a total of 280 Exhibitors only about 65 offered products or services specifically related to NDT. The list of MTQ products by A-Z may give an idea what the MTQ covers, in contrast to other events like the MTQ Birmingham UK exhibition offering mainly NDT products or the pure NDT shows like the ASNT Fall Show as well as the ECNDT. Reviewing the NDT exhibition scene, in my personal opinion, the ECNDT Show which takes place in conjunction with the European NDT conference every 4 Years is the biggest NDT exhibition. Here you can usually meet 120 Exhibitors from the European or even the worldwide market. That may be the best chance for visitors to get a comprehensive selection, however, exhibitors should keep in mind that this show is attended largely by academic types. Even if you don't participate in the conference it's worthwhile to go there. Another alternative , but more expensive for both exhibitors and attendees is the World Conference on NDT which will be held in Rome Italy Oct 15-21, 2000. Last, but not least, exhibitions on the Internet offer great opportunities. The disadvantages of lack of face to face communications is offset by other benefits which the experienced user of our site might know already. Techniques like global search through all exhibitors' Homepages have just started and other server techniques are on the way to make it even better.
