A Comparison Sheet of Flaw Detector Specifications

The sheet presented herein compares instruments of Karl Deutsch, Panametrics and Krautkramer.
When we tried to bring specifications of different manufactures together on one sheet we ran into the problem of how to handle the different definitions or lack of information of some brochures. We do not want to blame those companies; there exist much worse brochures from many other companies we haven't mentioned here. The situation clearly shows how important the new European Standard EN 126681-1 Instruments is.

The five instruments on display are representative for general purpose flaw detection only. However, the term 'general purpose' may have room for a range of instruments, as is reflected by the three instruments from Krautkramer (USM 20 - USN52 - USD 15 B). All companies offer also other suitable instruments for low and high-end applications.

The presented specifications of each instrument information were assembled by using the current brochures and data sheets of each company. The absence of quoted values in this presentation does not necessarily mean that the instrument does not provide those functions. The presentation is not intended as a comprehensive purchase guide. For more detailed information about any instrument, contact the manufacturer.
