KARL DEUTSCH offers two different models of flaw detectors: the ECHOGRAPH 1080
and the ECHOGRAPH 1085. Both digital flaw detectors
are mainly different in the display system and housing size:
1080: 5.5" Monitor tube, 512 by 320 pixels, 130 by 280 by 350 mm³
housing size
1085: 5.5" EL display, 320 by 256 pixels, 130 by 280 by 200 mm³ housing size
Therefore, the ECHOGRAPH 1080 is more the lab
version with crisp and flickerfree display and the ECHOGRAPH 1085 is the more compact
version for in-situ inspections.
The Operation: Uniquely Simple
A few, clearly arranged keys allow a direct access to the most-often
needed functions (Gain, Range, Monitor, Treshold). Two additional keys can be arbitrarily
assigned with any function. The menu key gives access to the scroll-down menu which is
conveniently operated with a turn knob. All displays of the menu, even error messages in
case of false operation are given in clear text in the language of your choice (see
ordering info). Also, the operator may work under his native language and print out test
reports in another language.
The Ultrasonic Properties: Top Class
The combination of extremely short transmitter rise time (5ns) and very
large amplifier bandwidth (40MHz) guarantees extraordinary resolution and practically
undistorted echo display. An additional low-frequency range combined with the power
transmitter (350V) results in high power for large workpieces or extremely lossy
materials.
The Principle of Evaluation: Variable Messages
In addition to the A-Scan, the results are also given in numbers:
amplitude height, depth position, projection distance. They are shown on the display
together with important measurement parameters. The echo display can be frozen,
independent of RF display or rectification mode. A serially built-in hardware monitor
allows a real-time (330Hz) flaw signal output. A single keystroke activates the monitor
zoom mode and the monitor gate is spread across the entire screen. Amplitude evaluation
with the DGS and DAC algorithm are both implemented. A once-chosen adjustment can be
stored and recalled with a single keystroke. In the same way, test results including
A-Scans may be stored and later be transferred to a computer or printer. The splash-proof
housing (better than IP54) makes operation in wet or dusty environments possible. The
light weight (1085: 3.7 kg without batteries) facilitates portable operation.
The Peripheric Instruments: Great Variety
Interfaces for computers, printers, terminals, monitors and video
recorders (1085) are provided. The communication program ECOM 85
(for Windows) is used for data transfer.
