| Ultrasound Institute represent the majority of ultrasound research groups at Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania. The ultrasound research at our university is counting 35 years of activity. Ultrasound research activities were initiated by Prof. K.Barsauskas in 1962 by founding the Ultrasound Problem Laboratory. Total number of publications over these years exceeds 1000 and together we hold over 150 patents. In the process of research development, there were established new laboratories. |
ULTRASONIC NDE SYSTEM IZOGRAF-4.01
SHORT DESCRIPTION: |
Ultrasonic transducer(s), operating in pulse-echo, pitch-catch or through-transmission mode are excited
by programmable pulses generator. Transducer is positioned by x-y scanner, driven by step motors.

ULTRASONIC NDT SYSTEM OF BEARINGS
|
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION AND APPLICATIONS:
The ultrasonic system for NDT of journal and sleeve bearings enables to determine delaminations between the
babbitt layer and the rest of the bearing. The principle of operation is based on a detection of reflected ultrasonic
waves from the delaminated zones. The immersion technique is used during the testing, so the bearing is put in
the tank filled with water and scanning procedure of the whole inner surface is performed. At each scanner position
the complete ultrasonic signals are acquired by a computer and the decision about quality of adhesion between
babbitt layer and metal body can be made. The spatial image of delaminated zones and total area of them are
presented in the final NDT report. |

ULTRASONIC ZIRCONIUM TUBE METER
|
PURPOSE: Operation of the meter for measurement of zirconium tube diameters and wall thickness is based on the measurement of time-of-flight of ultrasonic pulses in liquids and solids. These measurements are performed along straight lines drawn between the opposite walls via the center of the tube. If the transmitters - receivers of the ultrasonic waves are located on this line, inner diameter and wall thickness can be determined. For compensation of a non-uniform temperature (40-80C) of water inside a tube, the reference channel is used. The ultrasonic zirconium tube meter has been developed for non - destructive testing of zirconium tubes used in channel - type (RBMK) nuclear reactors and is used at Ignalina nuclear plant (Lithuania). MAIN FEATURES:
· one-side access measurement of a wall thickness; · transmission of the measured data on-line to data bases at a remote PC; · processing and filtering of acquisited data. | ![]()
