Hareesh

Whilst Sumit has posted a link to one of the controling PCN documents, there are others and to find your way around them to the info you require is daunting.

All personnel, including an ASNT Level III certificate holder, have to provide evidence of meeting the initial certification entry training, experience and examination requirements of PCN. This means "approved" training and the best thing to do is to approach the nearest PCN accredited exam centre to present your training records and proficency certificates and follow their advice.

In theory if you hold valid ASNT Level 3 you'll need to fill out PSL49 (downloadable from BINDT/PCN website) to claim any exemption.

Some PCN exams are held in India.

Good luck

Nigel

Please access the PCN website for the info you need

ASNT has nothing to do with PCN so of course you can go directly to PCN Level 3 without ever being ASNT certified.

Please correct me if I am wrong, I was always under the impression that to sit a PCN Level 3 examination a PCN level 2 in the discipline must already be held. If no level 2 is held is it not the case that both the level 2 and 3 exams must be taken. This being the case I would assume that all PCN training / minimum experience requirements for the discipline would have to be met. I don't think it is just a matter of turning up and sitting PCN Level 3 exams, surely there is some regulation.

Hi Alan

I answered j asharya's question (direct access to Level 3 without ASNT Level III). But it is possible to be uncertified and to sit the PCN Level 3 exam if you meet their criteria for acceptability. Yes, if you are not PCN Level 2 certifed then you need to write the appropriate Level 2 modules as well as the Level 3 modules. Believe me I have been there when people have done this.

The examination centre will not hesitate in accepting an application for direct Level 3 examination provided the candidate meets the educational requirements. Whether PCN will issue a full or an interim certificate depends on the level of experience. Dont forget that the exam cemtres are supposedly just that (I know usually training is available) but they do NOT certify - that is for PCN.
