For a reliable detection of defective structures in case of ferromagnetic materials (e.g. wrong hardness, material mix-up etc.), the KARL DEUTSCH Company, Prüf- und Messgerätebau, Wuppertal, Germany, offers with the well-approved VITOMETER 5030 a low-cost instrument of the latest state of the art. In contradiction to conventional instruments, the operation and presetting is not done at the instrument itself, but via an RS-232- interface. The high-power and graphically guided PC software delivered together with the instrument, displays measured values and material separations in high-resolution Coloured graphics as vectors and transfer loci on the PC monitor. Analyses of the measured values and instrument setting can be carried out very quickly by this procedure. For the testing of mass production, the PC can be separated and the VITOMETER 5030 then works as a stand-alone instrument. Good / bad results are optically indicated by signal lamps and, for automation purposes, presented at an SPS-interface. The dislocation of the system operation offers 100 per cent safety against intended or unintentional manipulations and, therefore, a high degree of testing safety.
As an alternative facility and complement of PC operation, the newly developed HANDTERMINAL 5810 is available from now. This manual instrument offers, by means of an easy to handle menu, access to all settings and results of the VITOMETER. Due to its compact construction and battery operation, it means an optimum application in field use: for a quick check of the measured values, for charge calibration, or when another setting is required. The menu given in plain text or in easy to understand logograms is subdivided into three ranges: Besides the mere measurement operation, it can be chosen between a simplified and a detailed menu for setting and evaluation. Thus, the HANDTERMINAL 5810 offers optimum operation for any requirement without stressing the inspector with unneeded data. The menu access can additionally be protected by a password, thus avoiding an unauthorized change of the test Parameters. Besides the newly retouched round and rectangular coils with increased sensitivity, the variety of accessories for the VITOMETER 5030 had been completed by a further module which increases the flexible operation of the structure and mix-up testing in the laboratory and production.
