QMI introduces new solutions for testing of highly attenuating materials

QMI's new product is called AIRMAX. It is designed for air-coupled transducers only, with a frequency range of 40 kHz to 200 kHz. Typical applications are foam materials and the multiseptum honeycomb, made of polyamid material with 6 septums, and having a thickness of 0.5 m.The picture shows this honeycomb with transmitter and receiver at 50 kHz.
QMI also have extended the applications of the SONDA 007 C. Powerfull 200 kHz transducers are assembled in water suirters, aligned in pitch-catch configuration, and separated by a sound barrier (picture). This instrument is capable of detecting non-bonds between the cork layer (up to 0.5 in thick) and the underlying cylindrical composite face sheet, as well as damages to the face sheet.
