At this year's MTQ fair in Dortmund, MPV presented two innovative portable ultrasonic scanners designed to further reduce testing times and cost and thus fully in line with market demands for increased economy. Along with an ultrasonic testing unit as well as scanning and processing software, the new magnetic crawler GECCOscan is designed for greatly facilitates and speeds up on site inspections at pressure vessels, steel walls or large-size pipes in the chemical and petrochemical industries, in ship building energy generation or structural steel works. Versatile suitable for diameters of 1,600 mm up to flat surfaces the system features working width of up to 30 m length, scanning lengths of up to 500 mm and speeds of up to 200 mm/sec.
Designed for the inspection of welding seams, wall thickness, volume and cracks with ultrasonic and eddy current, the new pipe scanner BOAscan reliably tests pipes and rods of 100 mm up to 2,000 mm of diameter with the same high speed and precision.
