As a result of the transaction, R/D Tech acquires the manufacturing rights for all probe models previously made by Westinghouse. It is the intention of RID Tech to make the probes available to customers worldwide. R/D Tech will continue producing the Westinghouse eddy current probes as well as new designs from the existing location, in Waltz Mill, PA, USA.
In addition, Westinghouse and R/D Tech have entered a long-term probe supply agreement and Westinghouse has committed to minimum probe purchases from R/D Tech for the next several years.
The Waltz Mill facility becomes R/D Tech's third probe manufacturing facility. The Deep River, Canada facility primarily produces eddy current probes for CANDU nuclear power plants whereas the Quebec Canada facility focuses on probes for the French market.
The acquisition is said to reinforce the position of R/D Tech as a major provider of NDT equipment and probes to the nuclear industry.
