P&W plans to use this system to provide additional process control and quality assurance for its world-class engine and part designs. The contract follows several months of successful testing of CTI's industrial thermal imaging technology by P&W.
"Incorporating CTI's thermal imaging technology into our inspection process will help us extract additional data about our engines, information that will help us achieve our goal of engineering excellence," said Ray Jabick, director of capital procurement for Pratt & Whitney. "We've been testing the technology for the past several months and are looking forward to implementing the CTI system later this year."
"Working with aerospace leader United Technologies' Pratt & Whitney is a significant milestone for CTI, and we look forward to expanding this relationship," said John M. Brenna, president and chief operating officer of Computerized Thermal Imaging.
Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies company, is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
