The magnetic crawler GECCOScan is suitable for the scaffolding-free inspection of tanks and vessels. Due to the easy mounting on magnetic materials the set-up times are short, thus providing important cost savings for the initial and periodical inspection. GECCOScan clings to the component part with its individually driven magnetic wheels and is suitable for wall thickness gauging, weld seam testing and HIC-testing with ultrasound as well as the visual inspection of large tanks like containers and gas storage tanks. The advantage with this kind of inspection is that storage tanks don´t need to be emptied and cleaned which also saves costs.
By saving the scaffolding, wall thickness gauging on one to two tanks (four directions each a 300mm path) can be carried out by MPV within a day. Using GECCOscan leads to shorter inspection times and therefore to a lower burden on the inspection budgets. In contrast to the manual testing in carrying out spot checks, this continuos data logging during one scan ensures complete and logical documentation in the form of scans (see picture 2) and error lists which MPV provides as a complete inspection report.
