![]() Sira Camera Head and Active Pixel Sensor |
The camera head is a mere 53 mm diameter and 34 mm long (minus C mount lens), suiting it for use in tight spaces such as reactor cores. It uses the latest in CMOS active pixel sensors (512 x 512 pixel B/W) from FillFactory, Belgium, and electronics designed by Sira to resist high radiation doses. Sira's expertise is based on years of experience developing advanced detectors for use in satellites in the harsh radiation-filled space environment.
Dr Gordon Hopkinson, Senior Camera Design Engineer at Sira Electro-Optics Ltd., presented a paper on the camera design and test results at the recent IEEE Nuclear & Space Radiation Effects Conference, Arizona, July 2002.
