Aerospace Testing Expo opened its doors for the first time at the Hamburg Messe, Germany on 26, 27 & 28 February 2003. The show provided visitors and exhibitors with a winning formula to meet and exchange ideas across the entire spectrum of aviation testing. The show's two-hall format contained 190+ exhibiting companies within an exhibition space of over 6000 square metres. A three-day Open Technology Forum consisting of 48 aerospace testing technology presentations from 14 countries also took place in a 120-seat open-plan auditorium. An impressive 2500+ visitors from 58 countries attended the launch event, representing more than 1000 companies. Tony Robinson, Managing Director of the event, said: “The response from visitors and exhibitors to the first Aerospace Testing Expo has been extremely positive. The constantly busy halls were testament to the high level of business being discussed. I always look to see how much time visitors spend at each booth and here you could see people having half hour discussions and making notes – that’s a sign of a show that’s creating real business opportunities. I was extremely pleased with the considerable international presence and also by the success of the Open Technology Forum. We are all looking forward to building on this year’s success and expanding on our mission to make Aerospace Testing Expo an unmissable event in the testing industry's event calendar.” What
exhibitors said “Aerospace Testing
Expo was the best show my company has exhibited at in over five
years. The quantity and quality of leads far surpasses other shows
where we’ve exhibited.” “…several
contracts were signed by our company during Aerospace Testing
Expo 2003 and important appointments were taken with prestigious
worldwide-known aircraft companies and Air Force officials of
different countries.” The majority of Aerospace Testing Expo 2003 visitors were European, with 10 percent attending from outside of the EU. Leading end-users of testing equipment visited the show from the airframe and engine manufacturers, and civil and military operators. Examples include Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, BAE Systems, EADS, Dassault Aviation, Tupolev, Sukhoi, Saab Aero, Alenia, Agusta, Eurocopter, PZL, Kamov, GE Engines, Rolls Royce, Snecma, Honeywell, Volvo Aero, Klimov and Israel Aircraft Industries. Some examples of the major airlines represented were Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM and US Airways. Large groups of military visitors arrived from the German Bundeswehr & Luftwaffe, as well as key representatives from NATO, the UK Royal Air Force, UAE Air Force and the US Navy’s Navair. Open
Technology Forum John Minassian, moderator of the Open Technology Forum over the three days commented: “The Open Technology Forum proved to be an extremely successful event, attracting numerous international visitors. The presentations were of the highest standard, and generated many opportunities for questions to be asked and answered. It was also evident that this was an ideal platform for the speakers to connect with other specialists, and to continue a dialogue with them after the presentations.” What
to expect in 2004 “Based on discussions with our existing exhibitors and with companies who will participate for the first time next year, we can confidently predict that the show will triple in size. That means that in 2004, visitors can expect at least 18,000 square metres of exhibits with probably 450 different exhibiting companies,” said Robinson. Aerospace Testing Expo 2004 will include a new feature, AeroNDT - a dedicated exhibition hall for the Aerospace NDT sector, which includes a free NDT Open Technology Forum with seating for 150 people. AeroNDT will reflect the critical importance of new and developing non-destructive testing and inspection technologies to the aerospace industry. Located in one of the five halls and representing over 4,000 square metres of gross exhibition and forum space, AeroNDT will present the full range of current and emerging NDT/NDE solutions and services.
