HanVision Co., Ltd, the Korean camera manufacturer and integrator, and Sira, the UK-based electro-optics systems developer, have signed a licence for HanVision to manufacture miniature radiation tolerant cameras for the nuclear power industry, based on a novel Sira design. The new HVRH-7 camera combines a STAR250 Active Pixel Sensor produced by FillFactory n.v., with a rad-hard electronics read-out system developed by Sira from systems designed for imaging in the harsh environment of space. It has been successfully tested at dose rates exceeding 100 krad/hr, and survived more than 5 Mrad without ill effects, conditions equivalent to the interior of a nuclear reactor. Mr Sang Keun Yoo, CEO of Han-Vision said "We are pleased to expand our product range with Sira's innovative camera design, which will enable us to offer our customers a cost-effective solution to monitoring and measurement in high radiation environments."
The HVRH-7 is available with the Han-Vision HVSH tungsten-alloy radiation shielding system providing a further 10-1 reduction in radiation.
