An entire day was devoted to discussion of the group's future role and contact with professionals. Hans Aisenbrey moderated. Topics included how to get more lectures from group participants to increase dialog with industrial users and general discussions on how to organize the meetings.

Many suggestions were offered, such as: Excursions More lectures, more themes at the same meeting anniversary with a special program podium discussions change of event location Allowing discussion during the lectures Inviting authors from neighboring countries Opening of new NDT companies to coincide with the meeting Joint events with other societies e.g., DGQ, DVS, VDEh, VDI, VGB, DVGW, VCI, FDBR, DVM, DGM, DFO or BDLI.

Broader themes could be interesting, like: Standards and their interpretation(pre release) education unique NDT applications Quality assurance (TQM, certification, accreditation) other disciplines Accident and Insurance cases Participants' opinions on NDT Product information from manufacturers Increasing service range of service companies NDT purchasers' need for information

The figures of 1996 were very positive: 150 meetings, 198 lectures, 3440 participants!
Finally, the same old worrisome question: How can the DGZfP transfer knowledge and reach NDT newcomers?
