Cracks of an austenitic pipe, in German's Brunsbuettel nuclear power station, were not found with ultrasonic testing.

New cracks in KKW Brunsbuettel: In the Nuclear Power station at Brunsbuettel cracks were again detected in an austenitic pipe. This was reported by the energy minister Claus Moelle, of German's province Schleswig-Holstein, on Friday 10th. of February, 1995 in Kiel.

The cracks were, so Moeller reports, not discovered from previous ultrasonic testing. In order to prevent further problems the Minister will dispatch a taskforce. The duties of the power station operator will be checked. The Swiss Material expert Prof. Markus Speidel (ETH Zürich), will be called to do the inspection.

Moeller said that this recent event only adds full to the actions against the nuclear power policy in German's Schleswig-Holstein province. Since august 1992 is this nuclear power station already switched off because off other cracks in austenitic pipes.
