Nondestructive Characterization of State and Properties of Aluminium Structures
The contribution gives a short overview towards the process integrated characterization of microstructure and evaluation of mechanical properties using ultrasonic waves. Examples:
residual stress states in plates, welded parts, texture in Al-sheets, visualize the distribution of ceramic reinforcements, volume content on reinforcement, burrs in Al- hollow castings.

Inspection of Tube using Ultrasonic Phased Array Probes
Classical technics by mechanical rotating probes were in certain cases not applicable. In such cases ultrasonic phased array probes offered one good solution. Phased array probes and electronic beam synthesis are powerful techniques to solve ultrasonic inspection problems, where mechanical and/or inspection rate are very constraining.

Nondestructive testing of train wheels at the German Bahn AG
With NDT methods it is possible to detect typical wear and tear damage of wheel surfaces of high speed trains.
The eddy current method and the ultrasonic method (EMAT generated Rayleigh surface waves) were used for testing wheels in intervals upto 480.000 km operation time.
