Posted by: Iclampers on September 02, 2008 at 12:02:The Section V 2007 code does not have a fig T542.2.1 anymore. You should check that you do indeed have the current code. There have been quite a few changes to Articles 4 and 5.
If you inspecting welds you have to go by the requirements of Article 4, Article 5 is for materials (ie; castings, forgings, bolts....).

: Hi,
: In ASME Section V, 2007 edition, Art. 4 titles "UT examination for welds", while Art. 5 titles "UT examination for materials".
: Nonethless, Index at pages 630-631 (2007 edition) reports different titles for Art. 4 and 5;
: moreover, in Art. 5 index, pag. 631, it is stated "Basic calibration block (Welds), Art. 5, T-542.2.1". But T-542.2.1 does not exist in 2007 edition.
: So, for welds, do I have to use current 2007 edition Cal block indicated in Art. 4, fig. T-434.2.1, or T-542.2.1, which was present in older editions, and is still present in 2007 index edition?
