: Hello...
: i agree basicly what Michael explain...but i have personally problems to understand if there is a need for olympus to pronouce " We are the best ! "
: Look, if you starts with phased array please have in mind that on the medical sector they have a lot of experiance with these kind of equipment.
: Everything what we have in our ( little ) NDT world worked since years on the medical sector...you need examples : CT , digital radiogphy, phased array and ..
: All these new methods or test techniques coming bow on the market are surely not a " new " discovered by companies as GE or Olympus.
: If you are looking for really innovative phased array technique take a close look to the medical market and or also looking in countries as Korea,Taiwan,US or Netherland.
: There a a lot of sources coming up or getting bigger; - so invest some time in google and you will find a lot of manufacturer !

Christoph:
There are loads of manufacturers, as Simon Amallraja points out: Olympus, TDL, GEIT, Sonatest, PEAK, DSL, M2M, Siemens, Toshiba, Zetec, KBJ etc. What is best is typically what is best for your application. ONDT is not the only manufacturer; just the biggest - which probably says something.
As for the medical world, they started their business baed on phased array radar and other applications. Unfortunately, the medical PA is not as useful as we would like: they spend all their time using longitudinal waves and looking for a few dB of contrast on a known product. We use all kinds of waves on a spectrum of materials and components, looking for a variety of defects. With the except of GE (who are not the cutting edge in industrial PA), none of the medical players are active in NDE.
