If anyone is further interested, please feel free to contact me directly as that work was mine.
I also saw the use of mag particle for forensic recovery on CSI, and the way they implemented the technique really was far fetched and over dramatized for TV. Plus, I look nothing like Marg Helgenberg! In any case, there are limitations and "tricks" to using this method for serial number recovery, and I'd be happy to discuss this with interested parties. I've used this method to varying degrees of success on firearms and old machinery identification plates.

: I remember seeing MT used in this fashion on the TV show CSI. And I'm always skeptical of what they show on TV, specially when they deal with a topic that I am familiar with. Very often they stray away from the truth to captivate the audience. Yet I most admit, that after visiting that site and seeing those pictures, I've learned something new today.

: : : I found this while doing some research and thought it might be interesting to the community as an unusual use for NDT.
