NESC is recruiting for a Discipline Expert in the Non-Destructive Evaluation discipline: Job Offer: US: NESC Discipline Expert - Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) — NASA Langley Research Center
Posted by: NASA’s Resume Operations Center on October 27, 2006 at 14:56:The Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Expert uses non-damaging interrogating energy to characterize properties, detect damage, or assess the integrity of materials, structures and systems. There are a variety of NDE methodologies that use different forms of interrogating energy such as sound, heat, and electromagnetic radiation at a variety of frequencies and wavelengths to include X-rays, microwaves, optical, and Terahertz. Because of the complexities in the type of material or structural geometry, many flight components used in NASA’s missions require special adaptations of NDE techniques for successful application. The NDE Discipline Expert provides the necessary expertise to cover the wide range of NDE subdisciplines and applications. These include dye penetrant and magnetic particle methods, ultrasonic and acoustic emission, radiography, thermography, optical and electromagnetic methods, all as applied to metallic and composite aerospace materials and structures.
