Abstract »Historical structures of sod roofs found in Slovakia were covered with earth and plants. These early shelters provided many benefits. First green roof systems, rooftop gardens, were developed in Germany and marketed on a large scale. Sophisticated features offered growth in reliable technology. The main motivation of making green roofs nowadays is restoration, restoration of nature, but also restoration of engineering structures. Damages, changes in material, properties of structures, structural systems. The aim of restoration is the ability of the structure to perform its intended function. The article is picturing historical green roofs in Spis Region in Slovakia, describing main reasons of building these roofs back then. The article is showing main features of green roofs nowadays. The aim of this work is to present green roof as a tool in strategy of building restoration.
Biography: Attended bachelor studies from 2006 to 2010, engineer studies from 2010 to 2012 at Technical University of Kosice, Faculty of fine arts, Study program Architecture and urbanism, achieved academic degree Bachelor Bc. And Engineer architect Ing. arch. Started my doctoral studies in 2013 at Technical University of Kosice, Faculty of civil engineering, Study program Theory of Architectural and Indoor Engineering. My work experiences are, working as an architect for few design studios, also working as a freelancer on my own. My
