SHM will reduce the cost by detecting faults in early stages and thus providing the ability to optimizing maintenance programs.
The video illustrates the detection, localization and monitoring of the trailing edge fault progression that took place over a 5-month period.
The system principals is built on an electromechanical actuator, mounted accelerometers and algorithms, which can be utilizing in other industries, e.g. aerospace and space for NDT or permanent health monitoring.
