How does the AE leak detector work? (method)

I want to know the method of leak detection using acoustic emission
Thank you

Re: How does the AE leak detector work? (method)
As with many questions you need to specify the application. AE is a transient wave generated by a source mechanism. It is the origin of the source which affects how and when you can detect the signal along with issues such as wave propogation and attenuation. In leak detection the source is often turbulence by the passage of gas or liquid through a hole (simplistic). This generates an AE signal which then can be detected by correctly placed sensors which may be as simple as a hydrophone or a piezo resonant sensor.
The source origin mechanism may be more complex than described here and so may the sensor solution but that is basically what happens. if you need more please email me directly.
