In most cases NDT is to be performed to a written procedure. In many cases it is not stated who shall approve this procedure. It is often recommended that a level 3 will at least approve the procedure (as with SNT-TC-1A) but in the end it is often up to the manufacturer to decide in their written practice. This is all subject to whichever code is referenced. Do you know which?

NADCAP Requirement is clearly stated the procedure or first article procedure shall be approved by Level III,
If your organization doesn't have one you may engage external Level III for one time approval.

Hello,

Regardless of any code requirement, it is always good to have the procedure vetted by a Level III ( internal / external ). So my suggestion is that you get it vetted.
