CGSB Certs Equivalent to UK Certs?

My wife and I are looking to immigrate to the UK (she is a UK citizen) and I have RT level 2 and ET level 1. Are my CGSB certifications recognized in the UK?

Thanks

Hi,

Although your Canadian certifications are quoted as being in compliance with the European EN473 and ISO 9712 standards, the market in the UK will demand that you re-certify to their domestic certifications. The courses and examinations cost the same as Canada, so be prepared to spend some grocery money on the process. The industry is also pretty dynamic, similar to what is seen in Alberta with employment levels going up and down according to the construction economy. Right now I believe there is an upswing.

"The CGSB Standard and the NRCan certification procedure comply with the requirements of International Standard ISO-9712:2005 and European Standard EN-473:2000" http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/minerals-metals/non-destructive-testing/2969

Depending on your experience and market sector, you may be able to get hired on an assistant level and have your new employer sponsor your re-certifications.

The best UK employment site for service sector NDT I have seen is www.ndtcabin.com

Cheers,

You almost certainly won't need to do the courses to recertify.

Holders of appropriate qualifications can recertify directly.

Despite having managed to halve the weight of similar portable X-Ray generators available on the market (while continuing to provide the same power output), the SITEX CPSERIES generators feature a shutter, a laser pointer, a beryllium window, an aluminum filter and two integrated diaphragms (customized sizes are available upon request). Without compromising the robustness and reliability for which ICM products are renowned, the small size and light weight of the SITEX CPSERIES will radically change the way that you perform your RT inspections. And you will see a positive impact in terms of both quality and return on investment (ROI).
