Offshore, NDT advice would be great and very much appreciated.

Good morning all.

For the past year I have been researching my options for getting myself offshore. NDT was always something I fancied and after looking at all the other options out there I have decided to go for it and begin my journey to becoming an NDT inspector. I'm very excited to get going and I'm ready to book 2 PCN exams, 1 in UT level 2 Plate testing, and MP level 2. I have my IRATA rope access booked also.

I was just wondering if any of you guys could throw me some advice before I get started.

Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated. And a thanks in advance to all of you. Its a strange forum to navigate but its very helpful once you get the hang of it.

Regards,

Nicky

First you must be sure whether you desire a career in NDT or you want to work offshore.

If the former, then you need to explore who employs NDT personnel and you will find its an extraordinarily diverse lst of potential employers. Has your research shown you this.

To go offshore, supplement your NDT courses with rope access (IRATA Level 1) - you'll have a better chance as a novice inspector with this certification.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply Nigel.

Yes I'm wanting to head offshore. I have my IRATA level 1 in a couple of weeks to help with my ndt qualifications. I have bee doing my research for a long time before committing to this path. It's not something that can be taken lightly. Your right about the diverse list of potential though. The opportunities are endless if I work hard. I'm looking forward to it more now that its all getting nearer.
