UT-Screen Height Linearity And Control Linearity

Hello everybody
Today I have a question : When I check screen height linearity and amplitude linearity.If it's not meet the requirement as in ASME V article 4.How can I do next?

see EN 12668-3 if the process not meet this procedure, must be calibrated again by 12668-1

The screen height linearity is rarely an issue in modern instruments with digital display monitors and the 5% screen-height tolerance should be very easy to achieve even with the difficulties of maintaining coupling on the targets suggested by ASME. The Amplitude Control linearity assesses the amplifier performance. In either case, if you cannot achieve the linearity required in ASME Sec. V Art. 4 the operator has no ability to make the necessary adjustments and the unit should be sent to the manufacturer or suitable repair shop to bring the parameters back into the acceptable range of tolerances. Of course, this means that the unit cannot be tagged with an acceptable calibration sticker and must not be used until the corrections are made and acceptable calibration achieved.

hello, in fact i have no answer but a few questions. in nfen 12668-3 the frequency for verification of " screen height linearity and amplitude linearity " is very clear in Table 1 § 3.1 : what is to check daily and every week is also clear and cannot be interpreted.
for the ASME V Code, § T-532 and T-533 mention " shall be performed at the beginning
of each period of extended use (or every 3 months, whichever is less)."
have you any idea of what is an " extended use " ?
does " whichever is less " mean that it needs to be checked frequently ?
what is checked in this verification ? the Flaw Detector with the help of an anonymous probe or a " complete ultrasonic examination system. " ?

for the logic of what is written "each period of extended use (or every 3 months, whichever is less)" implies that an "extended use" could exceed 3 months (otherwise why ask the question, "whichever is less"! How far can exceed ? Indefinite. But for the same logic can be less than 3 months ("whichever is less"!). How far can exceed ? Indefinite.
So, if you are under fierce verification, I think it is wise to secure for the worst case, attaching to the certificate of verification of the examination Ut "screen height linearity and amplitude linearity" for each probe included in the report, including stright beam.
If I remember correctly, other members in the past have suggested the use of the probes so as to involve the verification of the system, ie probe + instrument (what is called "equipment" in 12668-3.
