UT Cladding

Seniors,
I have a doubt regarding Cladding Materials Scanning. Can we do UT Inspection in cladded materials. I hope for cladding materials its two different materials if its how can we perform the UT?

Pipeline Material = LTCS. + Cladding.

hi Mrpks
first you have to inspect the specimen with normal TR prob for check disbanding between clad and base metal.then if your spec is ASME,you must create a DAC block similar to the workpiece(according to ASME sec V and the same thickness of clad and workpiece) then calibrate your UT set with this block by reverse engineering!
namely you have to take MAX peak from edge of the DAC block and then modify your index and actual angle of machine with this peak, change the velocity until calibrate your UT set and finally draw a DAC curve and check your specimen..

Is it the bond between cladding and pipe or a dissimilar metal weld in clad pipe. Both are routinely tested by people who should be experienced in this and have the right procedures and equipment to perform this test.

If the test is to check the integrity of the bond between clad metal and pipe ID then you'll need a calibration / sensitivity block.

You dont mention the controlling code or standard.
