Yes you can iaw paragraph 6.36 and 6.36 if you qualify your PA procedure and your personnel.

AWS D1.5 has adopted the new Annex K for Phased Array that I developed for the 2015 AWS if approved by AASHTO. Which should happen this year. I have presented to TAC which as far as I understand has approved the new Annex K.

I have developed a draft ballot for D1.1 to be review by D1Q. I will make the final presentation next week in Miami. But they say it will not make it until 2020 code.

BUT, under todays rules if the engineer of record approves Phased Array then you can if you follow 6.36 and 6.37.

Several companies have used PA successfully with engineering approval

We have qualified PA procedures and personnel for these entities.

sir. I wont to make a calibration block. for paut pipe to pipe butt joint 4" pipe thickness is 13.5mm according to the DNV- OS-F101, sir i just wont know about reference reflector. what i have to make there. SDH/NOTCH.

Sandip, you will need to specify which appendix in OS-F101 you are working to. Appendix D is for all NDT except automated UT of girth welds. Appendix E is for automated UT of girth welds. Appendix D is essentially the typical UT requirements and the description for procedures are found in DNV Classification note 7. Table D-1 in F101 provides the details of the requirements for the sensitivity calibration blocks. If automated UT (AUT) is planned for your project, DNV OS F101 "demands" a system qualification. You may use virtually any reference target sizes or shapes, but you must demonstrate reliability (with a 90|95 PoD) and you must quantify your sizing accuracy. The qualification process is described in Section H of Appendix E and invokes the requirements of DNV RP-118. You may find this process particularly demanding for sizing if using an ECA based acceptance criteria. Section H in Appendix E requires under sizing error tolerances giving less than or equal to 5% probability of under sizing be determined and used in relation to any ECA specified defect sizes.
