visual inspection

A question for debate please. Who is the best qualified to look for service induced cracks. A welding inspector who is classed as having a visual ticket or an NDT inspector that some say is not visually qualified?

Hi Andrew

The best way to identify service induced cracks which is expected to arise from the surface of the specimen which is under inspection is ACFM/MT/PT these techniques has to choose depends on the material grade. When it comes to visual inspection it purely depends on the experience of particular person.

Not sure what you're after.

Service induced cracks in what? Weld?

What differentiates a "welding" inspector from an "NDT" inspector?

My thought is everyone is a visual inspector. Maybe not trained, qualified or certified.

The best qualified individual to look for a service induced "linear indication" is the person who is currently "qualified" and "certified" with a current medical examination who meets the written customer, local applicable governmental requirements, and employers documented practices.
