Hello Pablo,
This term relates to localized accidental magnetization of the surface of a part during magnetic particle testing, usually due to contact between specimens. The usual demonstration is to take a longitudinally-magnetized part, and touch/drag it across the surface of another part. This action can cause a residual magnetic field oriented perpendicular to the receiving part's surface wherever contact occurred, and this residual field will attract particles and form a visible indication. I've never tried it, but in theory you could "write" your name on the specimen in this way.

It depends on the context, of course the term is also used for magnetic memory devices - audio / video tapes, Disk drives etc.
