eddy current for the turbine blade

hi everyone! Has anyone ever inspected the turbine blade using the eddy current testing? which probe did you use? which specification did you refer to?

And what about the test block did you refer to? Could you show the picture of the test block? thank you

Not sure if this is power Generation or Aircraft Engine, both are regularly inspected with Eddy current.

Normally the manufacturer will produce a specification.

Much more information is needed for a sensible answer.

Typically, eddy current is used to inspect the trailing edges of the turbine blades. This is the area susceptible to cracking. The inspection is done by sliding the probe along the blade length. Calibration is done on EDM notches. Probe is a pencil probe. Inspection is done using a portable ECT machine. For aircraft turbines, please check manufacturers specification for probe and calibration standard.

I recall seeing probes that have VEE blocks shaped to fit specific turbine blade edges in order to ensure correct and repeatable placement of the sensor.

Then all you need is as listed in my previous reply. And as the previous reviewer noted a wedge/vee type plastic block to hold the pencil probe to overcome variations in edge effect. Good luck.

nresolved asset integrity problem in the industry. Current methods for measuring wall thickness with liftoff, without removing insulation, all have severe limitations. Eddyfi introduces Lyft — a reinvented, high-performance pulsed eddy current (PEC) solution. The patent- pending system features a state-of-the-art portable instrument, real- time C-scan imaging, fast data acquisition with grid-mapping and dynamic scanning modes, and flexibility with long cables. It can also scan through thick metal and insulation, as well as aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized steel weather jackets. Who else but Eddyfi to reinvent an eddy current technique and redefine CUI programs. Got Lyft?
