System of Identification in RT

In ASME Sec-V, Article 2, T-224 : System of identification, it is mentioned "This identification system does not necessarily require that the information appear as radiographic images." What are the other methods to make permanent identifications in a radiograph?

Very Simple. Write the Identification with a permanent marker pen on the radiograph.

Is there any equipment to perforate or any stamping accessories available for making identifications in radiograph? kindly refer. Thanks.

Perforating the film is standard practice in aircraft ndt, go to an ndt equipment supplier and they should be able to help you.

Shankar,
You should always keep in mind that ASME prescribe the minimum requirements to meet code endorsement. This however does not always equate to the best auditable method or the best method ensuring integrity. Marking of Radiographs is becoming an increasingly common subject on Construction Sites regarding content and method of Radiograph ID. Regardless of method employed, always ensure you have an auditable cross check method in place to ensure that "ringing" is not creeping into the workload.

Personally, I cannot see beyond lead letters on the work piece detailing date, contractor, line and weld number. The rest of the detail can be verified from the Weld Summary Sheets.

There are also photoprinting systems. The film supplier could suggest you all the suggested identification films system

Hi Shankar,

You could use an id printer, all the relevant information is printed on a sheet of paper and the information is re-produced on the radiograph before its processing.

Thank you
